4. Hyssop- Blood Sugar Control

According to research from a test tube, published in January 2004 issue of the journal Phytochemistry, Hyssop tea can bring benefits in lowering blood sugar levels. The researchers found that hyssop leaves contain antioxidant compounds that inhibit the enzyme alpha-glucosidase activity, which breaks down starch into sugar. An animal study published in the October 2003 issue of the Journal of Nutrition Science and “Vitaminology” found that hyssop extract taken before a high-carbohydrate meal prevented a drop in blood sugar by avoiding carbohydrate digestion. Researchers have realized that Hyssop may be useful as an adjunct to controlling high blood glucose levels.
